Essie Mae

Essie Mae was my paternal grandmother. She was quite a free-spirited woman. Quite the contrast compared to my maternal grandmother Pearl. Pearl was a big breasted, warm and loving mother of 14 children and grandmother to over 60 grandchildren. Essie Mae, on the other hand, was the mother of two. She wasn't what one would call motherly. She married young but I suppose not ready for the mother/wife role. She loved to go, go, go and have fun. She loved to dance more than anything that I know. She quit dancing at age 96 and died at age 97! What a woman! Essie (on the right) with a friend

Here she is posing in my daddy's sailor blues.

Here she is being silly!

Here is Essie with her favorite husband Fred.

This would have been a great pic to have posted on April 15th!

I LOVE the pictures! Old pictures are a weakness of mine. It's wonderful you have those. I often adopt pictures of forsaken relatives. I mean forsaken pictures of people I don't know.

Both your grandmothers sound perfect. I'm sure I'd have liked them both.
