The Short and Simple Life of a Pie Pumpkin

My pumpkin patch should be named Pityful Pumpkin Patch this year. I planted too early for one thing and also had a problem fighting grass and squashbugs. Anyway, I managed to grow one nice pie pumpkin. Hopefully, next year I will do better in the pumpkin business. Live and Learn. I found this cute little sign at the Dollar Tree so I bought it and hung it near my "Pumpkin Patch".
Here she is! Pretty, huh?
I cut the pumpkin in half. Scrape the seeds and membrane out (membrane is such a gross sounding word to me). Then I baked the pumpkin for about an hour. Next I scraped all the good meat out of the pumpkin. Hence, the picture above. I pureed this in my food processor and followed the recipe for Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin Bread.
One pie pumpkin equals two loaves of pumpkin bread and one 9" pumpkin pie. Yummmm!
