A David Davidson original

As you all have read in my "About Me" section I am an avid thrift store shopper. A few years ago I purchased a framed picture by Renoir at a thrift store. It is just a print of one of his paintings on heavy cardboard. Well, anyway the other day I got it out thinking I might hang it on the wall. I noticed that it had another picture behind it. So I took it all apart and found an original hand painted photograph by well known David Davidson. It even has his signature! David Davidson was a student of Wallace Nutting, the first to ever hand paint photographs in the early 1900's. Mr. Davidson ranks second in that artistic area. I am waiting to hear from an art appraiser what my picture is worth. Kind of a big thing for me.

Here is my response from the appraiser

Dear Kelly .....:

Based upon the digital images and information supplied we can offer you the following information. In our opinion your David Davidson picture...Pine Drive...is an original hand-colored photograph, bearing an original signature and title. In our opinion this is a relatively common Davidson title. Based upon your description and the images provided, we assume the picture to be in undamaged and unblemished condition. This picture was taken in New England and the Paper Label dates it as approximately 1915-1925. In our opinion this picture, in its current condition, would have a current market value of approximately $50-$100.

Cool, huh?
