Our Anniversary Excursion

Cute old timey signs

Beautiful building in the old downtown Van Buren, Arkansas

A cute little Ice Cream Parlor and Sandwich Shop in Van Buren. They had old Andy Griffith shows playing on the tv.
Ken and I were planning on robbing this bank to pay for this little trip but it was closed.

Hey, hey good lookin! (ok, sorry) haha!

I liked these buildings.

More cool architecture in Van Buren, Arkansas

National Forest in Arkansas

Queen Anne's Lace

More lovely Queen Anne's Lace. It grew wild everywhere!

Hubby spotted this ring neck snake while we stopped to view the mountains in the National Forest. I wasn't close to it. I just zoomed in close. You crazy!?

Jasper, Arkansas...very nostalgic old town.

Also in Jasper was Emma's Museum of Junk. Ken said "Well, at least she named it right". Haha! He is not fond of antique/junktique stores but he was real sweet to stop at any that I wanted to go in. The ladies in this shop looooooved my vest thingy that I was wearing. That made me feel special.

After going through Jasper we headed to Harrison. We got our room and then walked across the street to COLTON'S Steak House. Boone County is a "dry" county and we had to fill out a little form before we were seated. Colton's serves beer. We don't drink. I got sweet tea and Ken got a soda! Haha!
We had planned to go canoeing down the Buffalo River but little Miss Scaredy Pants didn't wantto go after hearing about all those that drowned in the flash flood the night before. Sooo, we drove all the way to Mountain Home (I have always loved that name for a town) to see what was happening there. Not much for us, of course. We did go down to the square, bought a raspberry plant at the Farmers Market and I looked in a few cool shops. (no pictures, sorry) One shop was called Twisted Sisters. It would have been Heaven on Earth for my Grandma Dagan with all it's outlandish old fancy clothes.
Then we exited out of town and headed for Fayetteville.

One of my favorite online sites to visit is Riffraffs @ http://shopriffraff.blogspot.com/ . Anyway, I have always wanted to shop there. While driving through Fayetteville we drove right in front of it. Hubby was kind enough to slam on the brakes and whip in as I screamed "Riffraff! Pull in there"! haha! The store was every bit as cool as it's website. I bought my LuLu an owl coin purse. Very cute!
Ken and I enjoyed some yummy barbecue at Penguin Ed's Bar-B-Que in Fayetteville.

Boston Mountains

Another view of the Boston Mountains as we head south on 71 to I-40 then on to Oklahoma.

So glad you are safe! Philip mentioned you leaving town and I had visions of you getting washed away - I assumed you were at the river...
Glad you had a great time. Happy Anniversary!
