End of Spring 2021

In just a few days Summer will officially began. What a crazy year we have had so far. Now half way through it.  Winter was tough, to put it mildly. We stayed cooped up for most all of it. I was so glad to see the green grass pop through the ground. I so enjoyed the daffodils and crocus and muscari too. So Hubby planted a beautiful garden and all was going well until a Spring monsoon hit us. Lots of water then high temps caused the tomato plants to go limp and the potatoes to rot in the ground. Ok, so we dealt with that...then the deer started chomping away at almost every plant during the night. They literally ate the tops of my sunflowers, strip the green bean plants, started on the okra and the beets, then went for the tomatoes and cucumbers. They are beautiful animals but we hate them. We are trying to grow good healthy food and they are taking it from us.

I will have to say with a thankfulness we enjoyed a good crop of asparagus, onions, garlic and beets. First time to grow beets and I managed to pickle a few. So good!

Hubby grew some very nice onions. This one was as big as a softball.

I canned 6 quarts of Pickled Beets.
They turned out very good!

June 19th we celebrated our sweet grandson's 12th birthday. We all love Chasie (Chase). He is kind, thoughtful, has a unique sense of humor, original, he is handsome and sweet.

My wonderful daddy would have turned 97 this year. I miss him terribly but he is in a much better place with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I plan to see him again someday. Also, my mother and many of my loved ones. I believe God is faithful and merciful and He loves us all.

My niece Gina shared a birthday with my daddy. June 22nd she turned 45. She asked if I would make her a birthday cake and I did. She was all smiles. German Chocolate was her request. We enjoyed that day along with her mother, my sister Debbie.

There is always plenty of work to do around here but sometimes I just have to "stop and smell the roses" .  Here are a few of our June blooms.

Pope John II rose

Lady of Shalot (David Austin rose)

David Austin's Abraham Darby rose.

These are the lavender roses Amanda bought me last year. This bush is producing lots of beautiful blooms this year.  I love them!

I have three hydrangeas and these two are blooming so beautifully this year. I honestly did not know what to expect after that crazy freezing weather in February. I'm so happy with these blooms.

The freeze bit this rose bush bad but it is bouncing back . Here is one of the first roses after cutting the bush way back.

I had to cut back my knock-outs as well. They were damaged so terribly. But bouncing right back with these lovely roses.

Last picture of my white panicle hydrangea.

So we are still in the middle of the "pandemic" and now into pushing the vaccine. I will not divulge into my thoughts of it all because it is pointless now. Everything we are witnessing is Biblical prophesy and we all need to make our calling and election sure. God help us all.
